As I wrote this haiku, I was thinking about all of the ways in which we can use social media, and yet we choose to feel confined by it, or burdened by it somehow.
The great thing for modern travel agencies, I believe, is that you can use social media not to simply post your latest deal or even the destinations you sell, necessarily.
Use social media as a way to tell your story and establish your own personality as a travel professional, or establish your brand's "voice."
If you feel overwhelmed by all of the different outlets...DON'T. Sure, it can be overwhelming. But pick two or three outlets -- Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, for example -- and get good at what works for you. Make sure that all of your social media outlets are telling the same story and working together.
And, also importantly, please make sure to respect the platform. By this, I mean, don't have links on your Twitter to other platforms or photos (guaranteed, nobody's clicking those). Don't use hashtags on Facebook (guaranteed, nobody's using those, either). Play with the generally accepted "rules" of each platform.
45 Degrees is using social media in a whole new way, using various outlets to feed into clients' websites and blogs, and building brands/personalities for their businesses using social platforms. If you're curious, shoot me an email. I'll probably talk your ear off about all the possibilities!
Cheers to your success!
